Channel [V] Thailand is a joint-venture between STAR TV and Broadcasting Network Thailand (BNT). It is now available exclusively on Thailand’s main pay-TV platform, True Visions. It is a popular channel for Thai youths and its VJs are well-known celebrities (Paula Taylor et al.) Under joint management of BNT and STAR, the channel plans to expan into multimedia, events, and other exciting ventures. Former Managing Director of Channel [V] includes Mr. Tanawat Wansom. “Byrd” Kulapong Bunnag was General Manager of the venture in the early days.

Sawadee Ultraman!
Japanese superhero Ultraman was reprised in a new series Project Ultraman made by Thai production company Chaiyo Productions.

Directed by Chaiyo’s current chief executive and Sompote Saengduenchai’s son, Perasit Saengduenchai, Project Ultraman depicts a group of humans (SENA) working in cahoots with 13 alien monsters to wipe out the human race. Unknown to the mastermind, members of the Ultraman family are present within SENA who eventually surface to fight the alien invasion.

Project Ultraman features three Chaiyo-created Ultraman characters, Ultraman Millenium, Dark Ultraman and Ultraman Elite, and stars Hong Kongbased actor Ekin Cheng, Thai actress Paula Taylor, Matthew Paul Deane and Ray McDonald.

STORY:
Deu is a well mannered man; more so than J, the self-confident, messy Thai-Australian girl who’s always ready to belt out a karaoke number no matter how late the hour. This makes Deu hate her, causing an ongoing quarrel that seems to get more serious everyday. Once, when J was brokenhearted, a gay friend gave her the telephone number of the radio DJ of a talk show called “The Lonely Wave”. But it just so happens that the night J chooses to call him, Deu, usually the DJ’s assistant, is filling in while the usual DJ is on leave. Deu’s unpracticed jerky vocal delivery makes J think she’s talking with a madman or a simpleton, so she begins talking dirty with the stand-in DJ, completely forgetting that her sex talk is being broadcast live on air to the nation.

STORY :
Rainbow has just moved to an international school in Phuket. She soon becomes the center of attention as many new friends are curious to know about the recent death of a student at her old school up North. She relates it to a mysterious phone number, 999-9999, a number reputed to grant the caller’s wish. The victim apparently had his wish granted soon before he was found dead on a flagpole. Despite Rainbow’s warnings, many of her new peers decide to try this out. Although the various wishes are fulfilled, a series of accident-like deaths occurs, until Sun becomes the only teen in the group left alive. Death is awaiting him, however, as he’s also made a wish which has yet to be fulfilled. Together, Rainbow and Sun must solve the mystery of the evil phone number, and stop whatever it’s going to bring to them.
