ยังคงความเป็นสาวฮอตได้ตลอดจริง ๆ สำหรับ พอลล่า เทเลอร์ รอยยิ้มของเธอยังคงมีเสน่ห์มัดใจแฟน ๆ ได้อยู่เสมอ ซึ่งตอนนี้เธอหวนกลับมารับงานแสดงอีกครั้งในหนัง “บ้านฉันตลกไว้ก่อน (พ่อสอนไว้)” หลังจากหายจากงานหนังไป 4 ปี พร้อมมาอัพเดทเรื่องงานและความรักให้แฟน ๆ ได้ทราบกันด้วย

**พอ ได้กลับมาเล่นหนังอีกครั้งเป็นยังไงบ้าง?

“ไม่ได้เล่นหนัง มา 4 ปีแล้วค่ะ ตั้งแต่เรื่อง “รักจัง” ตื่นเต้นจริง ๆ เราก็ไม่คิดว่ามันจะนานขนาด 4 ปีนะ เหมือนรอว่าเมื่อไหร่มีอันที่เราชอบเข้ามา พอลล่าค่อนข้างโชคดีนะ เพราะพอลล่าถือว่าเป็นนางเอกคนหนึ่งที่มีผลงานให้แฟน ๆ น้อยที่สุดแล้วมั้ง ทั้งละคร ทั้งหนัง มีผลงานให้เขาได้ชมน้อยมาก สู้คนอื่นไม่ได้ แต่เราก็มีแฟนคลับของเราที่ชื่นชอบเราก็พอใจแฮปปี้ แฟนคลับเหนียวแน่นไหม ไม่รู้ แต่ดูเขาก็ชอบก็โอเคค่ะ”

**หนังเรื่องนี้มีอะไรใหม่ ๆ หรือเปลี่ยนพอลล่าบ้าง?

“เปลี่ยนหมดเลย เรื่องนี้แปลกใหม่สำหรับเราหมดเลย อันนี้คือเล่นเป็น “หมอน้ำแข็ง” เป็นหมอรักษาสิวที่เรียบร้อยมาก ยากมากเลย เราต้องตัดผมให้เข้ากับคาแรกเตอร์ด้วย ต้องตัดผมสั้น พอลล่าว่าเล่นเรียบร้อย นิ่ง ๆ ยากกว่าต้องดุ๊กดิ๊ก ๆ อีกค่ะ คือให้เราดุ๊กดิ๊กทั้งวันได้สบายมาก แต่เมื่อไหร่ให้เรานิ่งมันยากมาก เพราะฉะนั้นเรื่องนี้ทั้งเรื่องค่อนข้างอึดอัดเหมือนกัน บทค่อนข้างไกลตัวมากค่ะ ไม่ค่อยมีความคล้ายเลย ส่วนมากเราจะเล่นอะไรที่มีคาแรกเตอร์คล้ายตัวเองตรงนี้ แต่หมอน้ำแข็งมีอะไรคล้ายล่ะ ก็ ไม่ค่อยมีเลยค่ะ (หัวเราะ) จริง ๆ แล้ว เราก็อยากที่จะลองอะไรใหม่ ๆ ไปเรื่อยนะ แต่มันอยู่ที่โอกาสด้วยแหละ แต่โชคดีที่เรื่องนี้พี่เขาอยากให้เราเล่นแบบนี้ด้วยแหละ เราก็ โอเคที่จะรับอะไรมาใหม่ พอเขาเสนอเราก็เอาเลยทันทีค่ะ”

An Amazing Shoot with Paula.

It took five months of coordinating, a trip to Thailand and back, and eventually Paula’s trip to Manila – to come up with this issue’s cover. Doc Marlon, who was also with us in Thailand and pretty much everyone in the team, had an to do an Amazing Race Manila to shoot this cover in Ninyo Fusion Cuisine in Katipunan, right before Paula left the country. But during the shoot, we all discovered that Paula Taylor is an absolute sweetheart. She spoke in a cute British droll and like to say please and thanks even under duress. She came to the shoot in her jeans and shirt (she was flying back to Thailand immediately after,) her beloved Chanel flats, and a great big Thai smile.

ONE BIG ADVENTURE

Paula Taylor’s life is just that – plus a few lucky detours and a firm resolve to follow her heart.

The call of the dream is irresistible, but it actually takes a lot of guts to leave everything behind to follow that inner voice – to the ends of the world, if need to be. A monumental decision, to be sure, to shake up your life in pursuit of a mere possibility. But take your pointers from Paula Taylor, who has done just that- crossed the world to the edge and back.

Paula first caught the eye of Filipino audiences in the reality show “The Amazing Race Asia II” as one half of an unlikely but formidable team. Unlikely only because the lively, unassuming girl who, with close friend Natasha Monk, quite literally gave fellow contestants a run for their money was then already one of the most famous personalities in Thai show-business, with more magazine covers, TV ads, movies and product endorsements to her name than there were pit stops in the game. Wherever in the world the race took her, no one would suspect that half-British, half-Thai Paula can’t walk down a street in her adopted home Bangkok without getting mobbed.

She shrugs off the notion of being too famous. “I do get recognized a lot, but that doesn’t affect me much. I believe in keeping my personal life private,” she says.

But long before the race or the fame, Paula was already a seasoned adventurer, living out of her suitcase since she was a teen allover Asia. Having grown up in Australia, she was scouted at age 12 while on vacation in Thailand. She landed one modeling job after another, working during school breaks and going full blast after she finished high school. Modeling across Asia was supposed to be a temporary engagement before entering university in Australia as a business major. But in 2003, the romantic comedy “Sexphone and the Girl Next Door” catapulted her into Thai viewers’ hearts. Since then, she has never looked back.

เป็นเพียงก๊อบปี้โฆษณาส่วนหนึ่งที่ผู้คนยังคงจดจำได้เป็นอย่างดีว่ามี “พอลล่า เทเลอร์” นักแสดง วีเจ นางแบบสาวลูกครึ่งไทย-อังกฤษ วัย 26 เป็นพรีเซ็นเตอร์ ซึ่งหากจะว่าไปงานโฆษณาคือจุดแจ้งเกิดของพอลล่านับตั้งแต่อายุ 13 ขวบ หรือ 13 ปีที่ผ่านมา กับโฆษณารองเท้านักเรียน PS Junior

Paula Taylor and I have heard about one another since the early days of our modeling careers (around 2002 and beyond!). We both shared one of the most awesome agents in Thailand, P’Dao who back then helped both of us go from fresh, new-faced models to ones that could command a bit more Baht than the norm! If you live in Thailand, you’d know Paula as one of the country’s ’superstars’ and if you live around Asia you would of seen her as one of the popular contestants on Amazing Race Asia. TWG was lucky to catch up with lovely Taylor and asked her all about those matters of the heart.

Miss Jetset, what are you working on now?

I just finished a new movie in Thailand, finishing off Season 2 of my sitcom ‘True Love Next Door‘, hosting Channel V and various modeling jobs that I’m shuttling between HK, Manila and Bangkok for.

The question on everyone’s mind… are you seeing anyone special?

Five sets of false eyelashes winked from a clear plastic box. A large shoulder bag stuffed with spray cans, brushes, clips and enough chemicals to blow up a city was splayed open on the table beside huge palettes of makeup and mink hair brushes. A man and a woman poked and prodded a quiet female in a chair who was serenely sending messages on a Blackberry.

The person at the centre of these ministrations was Paula Taylor, a woman whose face has beamed from countless billboards, magazine covers, televisions and movie screens in Thailand and several other Southeast Asian countries for well over a decade.

The product of a Thai mother and English father and raised in Australia, Taylor has evolved from a cute but unknown teenage model into a self-managed widely recognised brand. At the age of 26 – positively ancient in Asian model terms – she has just completed a year where she had the perhaps dubious honour of appearing on more Thai magazine covers than any other famous face. The Amazing Race Asia, at least for those who only follow it on television, seems like the last place on Earth to build friendships. It’s a cutthroat competition that relies not just on the teams’ overall skills and speed, but also on a bit of deception. It’s easy to rub other teams the wrong way because, well, you want nothing more than to beat them to the finish line.

Try telling that to Marc Nelson and Paula Taylor.

The two international celebrities met in the Race as competitors. Marc was teamed with his partner-in-crime Rovilson Fernandez while Paula was joined by her best friends Natasha Monks. Competitors at the beginning, the two - along with their partners - somehow struck a friendship during the race that has extended well after the show has ended.

It’s been almost two years since their season of The Amazing Race Asia concluded, yet when you’re around these two, it seems as if they’ve been friends much longer than that. From the get-go, it quickly became apparent why these two get along so well. Witty jabs are exchanged without anyone flinching. Wisecracks abound in the room, engulfing it with boisterous laughter. PERTH can lay claim to a host of big name international superstars — Heath Ledger, Sam Worthington, Isla Fisher, Melissa George, Gemma Ward and Nicole Trunfio, to name a few.

But what about the overseas success stories we don’t know about?

Among them is WA beauty Paula Taylor. In her home town of Perth the stunning 26-year-old is a virtual unknown, but in Thailand she is nothing short of a sensation.

Taylor, whose exotic Eurasian looks come courtesy of her Thai mother and English father, moved to Bangkok in 2001 to pursue modelling.

Eight years later she is one of country’s most popular young stars. She has her own weekly sitcom, is a successful film actor and TV presenter.

“I’ve done really well in Thailand,” Taylor said while on a recent visit to Perth. “Everything really changed in 2003 when I did a movie and it all just blew up. I’ve been working constantly ever since.” (more…)
