Seventeen is the No. 1 best-selling magazine for young women around the world and it has won the hearts of Thai women for seven years. As it steps into its 8th year, Seventeen unveils a fresh new look, a brand new logo, and introduces Cris Horwang, Jarinporn “Toey” Joonkiat and Paula Taylor as Seventeen’s first Thai cover girls for the August 2010 issue, which is on stands now.

Prayer Kavitanon, editor-in-chief of Seventeen, says “During the seven years that we’ve published Seventeen Thailand, the most frequently asked question is ‘When will Seventeen have a Thai cover girl?’ As we enter our 8th year, we think it’s time for Thai girls to finally and rightfully grace the cover of Seventeen. We also changed to our new logo, to be in line with the parent magazine and other Seventeen Magazines around the world. The overall image of the new Seventeen is noticeably more savvy and modern to reflect the growth of our readers. The content would also be more varied, covering a broad range of riveting lifestyle stories. To find the right cover girl, we launched Seventeen’s First Thai Cover Girl campaign in the past few months and invited our readers to vote for an actress they wanted to see on the cover. But instead of picking just one girl, we decided to go ahead with a big surprise. Seventeen’s August issue has three different covers with three different cover girls! The press conference of Seventeen’s First Thai Cover Girl, hosted at Red Mango, on the 4th floor of Siam Center saw the three popular actresses making their debut as Seventeen’s first Thai cover girls. Box Office’s sweetheart, Cris Horwang said with a laugh “It totally took me by surprise when Seventeen called to tell me that I was going to be on its cover. But when they told me who the other two cover girls are, I was a bit worried. Look at them! Paula is beautiful and Toey is cute. Who would want to buy my cover (laughs)? For the cover shoot, I got to work with Thailand’s top photographer Khun Nat Prakobsantisuk. It was such a memorable experience. I am not the best-looking girl around and I don’t have a great body, so I’m honored and grateful that Seventeen team and readers gave me this opportunity. This Seventeen cover shoot is my once-in-a-lifetime experience. Whether I am given the opportunity to work with Seventeen again in the future, it would never be the same as this time. That’s why I have to do my best.”

Up-and-coming actress Jarinporn “Toey” Joonkiat, was also surprised by the news. “I am very excited and happy because usually Seventeen only has Hollywood actresses and international models on the cover. But then when I found out who the other two cover girls are, I was like wow! I mean, Cris is super famous and I am a big fan of Paula. I really had no idea how I landed a spot among them. There must be stacks of my covers left on stands (laughs). The cover shoot for Seventeen is a big step forward for me. If you buy Cris and Paula covers, don’t forget to grab my cover along.”

Last but not least, it’s Paula Taylor. For seven years, this ever-popular sweetie had been asking Seventeen for a chance to be a cover girl. Now, her dream has come true. “I am extremely happy. Since the first year that I won Seventeen Teen Choice Awards, I had been asking when I would get to be on the cover. I’ve been reading Seventeen since I was abroad. Seventeen is cute and lively, just like a 17-year-old girl. 17 is a good age. It’s the time of your life when you are lively, cheerful and jolly. Even though I am not 17 anymore (laughs), I think everyone will always have a 17-year-old inside.”
